Friday 29th November Batten team weekly update

kia ora!😀

On Thursday we did the Science Roadshow. We learnt about atoms and how they work. There were also exhibits for us to try out. Like the bed of nails, the block bridge and much more. There was also a part when a man made elephant toothpaste because he has a pet elephant in Auckland. There was a man who made to clear beakers with particles in them and poured them together and made yellow and then purple!
There is also a challenge we did today Friday called the marshmallow/spaghettii challenge. It was a challenge when you have to build the tallest tower and put the marshmallow on top. It takes a lot of team work and lots of strategy. Our team managed to make a tower but it took a lot of work.We had to build the tower before 18 minutes were gone. We were building a base but then it didn't work. So we reconstructed and made a mini teepee.

Friday 27th End of term 3 reflection

Hi Everyone!

This is my end of term reflection post with Highlights and lowlights.
Hope you enjoy!

Highlights

This term I loved Eel Reveal

It was so much fun. We did activities like chalk patterns and games that include running. I played a game when you had to run from the predators. It was technically a food chain game. It went Eel, Whitebait then Scatter Flies. Then I did chalk patterns. You had to get a piece of paper and put it on some nature or other things and draw.

Lowlights

This term I did not like Athletics practise. It is really stressful especially in highjump. It was really hard to get over the pole. The thing I am not looking forward to is the actual athletics either.

Hope you enjoyed!

Weekly update Friday 20 September

Hi everyone!😀

Yesterday we had our production called 'Goodbye my friend!' In the morning we bused over to La Vida
and practised the production! We had some morning tea and then continued practising. After we had lunch some parents started to come and watch the afternoon play. The play is all about 4 year 8 kids that are leaving primary school. Their scene is them waiting at the bus stop but the bus does not come at all.  There is a teacher Mr Rad and he is the one and only teacher in the play. He is a complete drama queen and there is a T.A (teachers aid/teachers assistant.) I loved the scene when baby 'Cheesus' is decapitated. Apart from the production I am really looking forward to the holidays in one week time!!!!!!!!!! But... I think the highlight of the week is totally the production. And at 10:40 I am going on a eel trip to see a masterpiece where a wooden eel is painted and is revealed (I did a bit of painting!)
I hoped you enjoyed the blog!

Bye everyone!😀

Weekly update

Hi everyone!

This week I have enjoyed inquiry. Amy and I paired up and we are doing grass heads. We decided to do emoji faces. One thing I need to work on is the prices thereof because Amy and I do not know how much it will cost to print out colour.

An interesting thing I learnt was something called cat grass from Oderings Garden Centre. It helps cats with digestive issues and helps with fur balls. How to make grass heads is quite simple. You just need a cup or a stocking and paint a face, then put some soil in and place some grass seeds in and wait for them to grow.We also made a logo, check it out...

Bye everyone!

Winter Sport Week 3 Friday 17 May

Hello everybody!

On Thursday I went to winter sports! I played netball, I was defence and centre. I was in a team with all my friends. We versed a team that was a wee bit taller than us. Our coach was Mrs Welsh. She is one of the main teachers of the Batten team. My team was called the Tuis. Lola, Bella, Pippa, Julia, Rose and Millie were in my team and they were my friends. When we were walking back to the bus the rain was pouring. Pippa told me to get my umbrella out. I took my bag off my back and she found it. She put the umbrella up and she gave it to me. People were running over to me to get some shelter. Eventually the wind picked up and my umbrella turned upside down. Pippa helped me get it the right way round because my hands were too sensitive to do anything. She pressed the button and the umbrella came down.  We hopped in the bus and I got two seats to myself yay! At one point where I was sitting, the bus started leaking. So I moved to the other seat. Thank goodness that I had two seats to myself otherwise I would be sitting the whole way back with water dripping on my head. When we arrived in class it felt so warm. After that we got picked by our parents and went home.

Bye everyone!

Friday 10 May Weekly Update Term 2

Hello everybody!

Welcome to my first post for term 2. On Thursday 9 May we did a Catholic Sports tournament. There were four choices. There was Rippa rugby, Soccer, Hockey and Netball. I did Netball. I mainly was centre and defence.  Whenever the ball rolled away I tried to catch it before it rolled off the court.
My team was Elish, Lexie, Bella, Julia, Rose, Lily and Pera. It started raining when I subbed so me and Lily put our winter sports jackets on. We made up a dance to a song for the OLA netball team.

We had such fun!

Bye everyone!

Weekly Update Friday 8 March

Hello,

This week has been amazing!!! The highlight for me was our eel trip on Thursday. We learned about the bugs that lives in our waterways. The bugs also help the eels stay alive. My favourite part was when me and my friends were making a magical river for our 100% natural art lesson.
